When to use hash generator
A text hash is a deterministic fingerprint of its exact bytes. This tool uses UTF-8 encoding, so a trailing newline or different letter case changes the result. SHA-256 and SHA-512 are available through browser cryptography. MD5 is included for compatibility with older checksum workflows and is clearly marked as unsuitable for security.
